New England Grand Lodges?

I am looking at visiting as many NE Grand Lodges this year as I can, heck I am planning to visit as many Blue Lodges as I can as well! Has anyone visited their Grand Lodge, how is it?

Until last year, Conn did not have a GL. We had a small office building that was pretty crammed with file cabinets, a small library, and some printing presses. Years ago when we had money for a GL building, we decided to put it toward building a Masonic old age home, which turned into a hospital, and which is now a large health care/assisted living center.

Last year we built a larger set of offices for our GL. When we have a a session, we use either one of the larger lodge buildings (New Haven is the largest) or rent hotel space.

I've been to the Grand Lodge in Massachusetts to help out with some degree work for The Harvard Lodge. It is really spectacular. Paul Revere's lodge still meets there, lots of lodge rooms, a fantastic library; it is really worth doing. I know they give free tours during the week. This year is the 275th anniversary of the Grand Lodge and it is well worth visiting.

If you are in the neighborhood, you may want to look into the Museum of our National Heritage in Lexington. They are run by the Northern district Scottish Rite, I believe, and they have a new exhibit about Massachusetts Masonry. It is also free.

Good luck.
