To Charge or not to Charge???

Brothers,
Here is the situation:
I have been unemployed for 4 months now and trying to start my own computer Tech/Web Design business from home. I live in a very remote part of Wisconsin and business is scarce at best.
I have recently finished the Scottish Rite's new webpage, but after meeting with the Commander in Chief this past weekend, he has informed me that he wants MORE stuff on the site which will cause me to do updates every month on the site. I also found out from the Secretary of the AASR that this is the first year that they will be "in the black" as far as the books are concerned.
My question is this, as you have probably surmised by now, do I charge the AASR for my services and if so, what is fair?

Fraternally,
Lee :.

Personally I wouldnt charge (and I dont for either my BL or SR lodges). But perhaps you could work out a barter. Dues paid by the lodge for services rendered.

If you do charge, I'd suggest letting them set the fee.

I know you mentioned you are out of work, but think of it this way. The SR is giving you the chance to advertise yourself, they are an ongoing reference and the updates you will make on a usual basis with be a testament of your dedication. Talk with your brothers about your new business and let them know you are the webmaster. While I have turned down several inquiries for my services from brethren, once they found out I was the webmaster I had brothers offering to pay me to do sites for their businesses.

Besides, if you dont charge the lodge, and the above does come to fruition, you can always use services rendered to the lodge as a tax writeoff later and that would be far more valuable that what little they could offer you monetarily as a non-profit.
