.....the story of a road less travelled.....

......several years ago, my grandmother, gave my father a uniquely designed ring. Obviously worn, it had a black onyx background, with a small diamond inset lying adjacent to the letter G, square, & compasses. She told my father that this family heirloom was a Masonic Ring, worn by his grandfather, with strict instructions to her, that it be passed down to the legacy she felt was most deserved & worthy of the honor. She then told my father that she would like me to have the ring, cont…

Welcome to the Craft, Bro. Troy. My name is Alvin Alvarado, a member in good standing of Nueva Ecija Lodge 73 in the Philippines. I am currently in New York but I havent yet affiliated with any of the Masonic lodges here, the biggest reason being my work schedule. Stated meetings in many of the lodges I checked out start at 6pm and all of them are on weekdays. I work weekdays until 7pm. I do, however, join Masonic activites like fellowships and X-mas or b-day parties.

We are similar in the sense that we both come from Masonic backgrounds. From my great grandfathers, both maternal and paternal, all were Freemasons. You could say that Freemasonry is a deep tradition in our families.

I am privileged to have you as a brother and amy you continue to search for more light as you travel thru the Craft.

My Brother Rashied,

Thanks for your kind words......I'm sure you have opinions on this issue, but, quite frankly, I quite enjoy reading your thoughts as well......they are well reasoned & thought provoking.....to me personally, they speak directly & unequivocally about responding to the future, with respect & deference to our past.....in short, I'll wait patiently with the enjoyment of reading your other perspectives.....thanks for adding me again, take care & keep in touch,

S & F,

Bro. Troy

That was an excellent stream of consciousness you left on my page, Bro. Troy; I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. When work permits, I'll craft a more fitting response, but I wanted to at least let you know I'd seen and appreciated it.

All regular Brothers are welcome to attend on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Highland Lodge was purpose-built as a Masonic Lodge and it is one of the more beautiful Lodges I have been in. Bring your dues card, get ready to answer some questions and then be welcomed in.

This Wednesday night we will be having dinner at 6:00, an open memorial service at 7, and a 3rd degree Lodge meeting starting at about 7:30 or so. In January, we will be having an open installation meeting. Let me know if you're interested, in attending one of our meetings and I'll make sure you know how to get there...
